Earth Information for Climate Action: Perspectives from the UK Presidency

Event Info

Earth Information Day 2021 will consist of an in-person dialogue session and a virtual poster session and focus on two themes, as guided by submissions, and in consideration of the mandates and the wider context of ongoing work under the UNFCCC. Posters will be available throughout the two weeks of the Conference in the Poster Gallery on the COP26 virtual conference platform
Presidency-led Earth information half day will offer the UK an opportunity to illustrate to a global audience how earth observation science can be used to tackle climate change and enable climate action through adaptation, mitigation, and international collaboration.

This session will set out the needs for climate modelling in the context of the negotiations at COP26, particularly to inform actions that will need to be taken over the next decade to limit temperature rise to 2.0 degree or below. For this iIt will consider the main improvement of climate modelling that will need to be addressed to reach this goal.
